Hamlet, Revisited

If you're in the Bay Area, this play might be interesting to check out this coming weekend.  I saw it at a little community theater in San Francisco a few years back and it was really good.  I'm not sure how a high school will do, but it might be worth checking out.

Naomi Iizuka’s “Hamlet: Blood in the Brain” is a modern, local re-telling of the popular tragedy. It’s set in Oakland in the late 1980s.

I don't think I'll see it again.  It was really good, but too close to home.  Too real.  I wasn't in Oakland in the late 80s but that time period certainly set up parts of Oakland for what I have seen - all the violence, drugs, and tragedy.

If you check it out, please let me know what you think.
